As practitioners and teachers with New Millennium Project, we have long known the benefits of body-centered therapies and mindfulness practices in reducing the effects and symptoms of trauma. Over the past few years, science has been catching up. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts and researchers on trauma and PTSD, frequently speaks of the benefits of yoga, meditation, qigong, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) in “rewiring the brain” to resolve the effects of trauma in the body.
