What We Do
New Millennium Project honors, heals, and empowers Houston’s veterans and service members living with post-traumatic stress, chronic pain and related symptoms by administering proven, integrative programs of complementary somatic treatments and mindfulness teachings. Once considered “alternative,” the treatments incorporated in our program are now considered by leading experts in trauma resolution to be among the most effective primary approaches to address the effects of trauma.
Stage 1 – Integrative Wellness Experience Program: Our initial integrative wellness session provides our veterans with a 2-hour session of holistic complementary therapeutic treatments. The goal of the integrative wellness session is to promote stress resilience, gentle relaxation, more comfort and better sleep. The integrative wellness session allows participants to experience firsthand a wide range of modalities designed to help people attain these goals and achieve a state of profound relaxation which temporarily releases stress and related symptoms. New Millennium Project provides up to 6 sessions FREE to each veteran.
Each 2-hour session includes:
- Aromatherapy
- EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, “tapping”)
- Stretching exercises in a chair
- Medical Qigong
- Therapeutic Massage
- Bio-field therapy (Reiki, Healing Touch)
- Acupuncture
- Chiropractic (when available)
Stage 2 – Integrative Wellness Education Program: For veterans who have completed at least 6 integrative wellness sessions, we offer a supplemental 2-day program of experiential instruction to introduce our veterans to a variety of mindfulness and somatic practices. The Goal of the Wellness Education Program is to make veterans aware of techniques that they can practice independently to improve their stress resilience, adaptability, and long-term physical and mental health.
Each 2-day class includes teachings on:
- Nutrition and Supplements
- Healing with Food
- Meditation
- Yoga
- Qigong
- Breath work
- Sound healing
Stage 3 – From Warrior to Healer Program: For veterans who have completed Stages 1 and 2 and wish to continue their growth and development by training to become certified yoga instructors and/or Reiki practitioners, New Millennium Project is prepared to offer programs to make that training available. Funding for scholarships is required to meet this need. Please contact us if you can help.
